Executive Team
Jesse R. Baker Owner / Co-Founder
Jesse Baker is an Owner and Co-Founder of Freehold Capital Management. With almost three decades of experience as a real estate investor, Mr. Baker co-founded FCM in February 2013 with Mr. Tischer.
Prior to FCM, he spent more than a decade at the Baupost Group, a $30 billion value-oriented hedge fund with a long track record of success in distressed debt, public securities, and real estate. As a senior member of the real estate team, he was directly responsible for more than $3.5 billion in real estate securities, debt and private equity investments, and significant profits. Mr. Baker also contributed to the early analysis of the 2005-2008 housing bubble and the extensive real estate holdings of the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy estate, both of which became sizable and very profitable investments. In 2010 he was appointed to the firm’s four-person Operations Committee, reporting directly to the CEO and COO. Prior to joining Baupost, Mr. Baker worked at Goldman Sachs in New York and London, in its real estate investment banking and private equity groups.
Jesse is a graduate of Harvard Business School and the College of Business Administration at the University of Rhode Island (summa cum laude, 1st in class) and is the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the URI Foundation.
He resides in Boston, MA with his three children.
Casey Tischer Owner / Co-Founder
Casey Tischer is an Owner and Co-Founder of Freehold Capital Management. With over two decades of real estate experience, Mr. Tischer co-founded FCM in February 2013 with Mr. Baker.
Over his career, including his time at FCM, Casey has overseen the entitlement, acquisition, financing, development, and construction of over 32,300 units of for-sale and rental housing, over 181,000 square feet of civic and community space, approximately two million square feet of commercial and retail space, and thousands of acres of parks and open space. Mr. Tischer is passionate about creating vibrant and diverse communities.
Prior to forming FCM, he served as an Executive for SunCal Companies, a national real estate development and management company primarily focused on the acquisition, entitlement, and development of large, mixed-use, and master-planned communities. His SunCal responsibilities included underwriting, acquisition, capitalization and management of residential and commercial development projects and non-performing loan portfolios.
Mr. Tischer held various executive and development management roles with both private and publicly held companies such as NVR. Inc. and Brookfield Residential. Prior to starting Freehold, he managed and directed the planning, entitlement, and construction of more than 20,000 residential units (MF and for-sale), over 1 million square feet of commercial and retail development, and more than 6,000 homes and apartments.
Mr. Tischer’s civic and charitable work is extensive. It includes assisting United States Navy SEALs via the SEAL Legacy Foundation, supporting families of wounded and fallen Navy SEALs, educational assistance, and other causes benefiting the SEAL community. A graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, he served on the Trinity Board of Fellows, one of the college’s oldest advisory bodies responsible for overseeing student life and discipline. He is also a contributor to the Trinity Football Program and currently serves on the advisory board for Trinity College’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center and is an active member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). Casey resides in Richmond, VA with his wife and their two children.
Glen Tulk Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President, West Operations
Mr. Tulk oversees legal, human resources, marketing, transactions, and western U.S. development operations for Freehold Capital Management, including its affiliate companies: Freehold Communities, 360 Communities, Programmatic Land Capital and Development Advisory Services. Glen brings over 35 years of experience in the real estate industry, including 30 years in land acquisition, community planning, and development with public and private homebuilders.
Prior to joining Freehold, Glen served as the Senior Vice President of National Land at Meritage Homes Corporation providing executive leadership and support to the land acquisition and development teams in Meritage’s twenty-two homebuilding divisions and helping grow the company to the fifth largest homebuilder in the United States. He also led the company’s land joint ventures and OBS financing efforts and was a member of Meritage’s Land Investment Committee.
Glen and his wife, Sarah, live in Scottsdale, Arizona with their four children, where they support several local charitable organizations including Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Arizona Humane Society, the Ira S. Levine Jewish Community Center, Gigi’s Cottage, a group home for at-risk young women, and the local outreach ministries of Scottsdale Bible Church. Glen also serves on the executive board of the Patrick Surtain II Foundation, supporting its mission to increase access to STEM educational opportunities for Denver, Colorado high school students.
Glen is a graduate of the University of Wyoming, and an active member of the Urban Land Institute on the Community Development Council.
Randy Teteak Chief Investment Officer and Executive Vice President
Randy Teteak serves as Chief Investment Officer and Executive Vice President of Freehold Capital Management, where he leads acquisitions, underwriting, project finance, and strategic dispositions. He brings more than 25 years of experience in real estate entitlement, acquisition, development, financing, and construction, encompassing over 50,000 units of for-sale and rental housing, along with several million square feet of office, retail, and industrial space.
He specializes in large-scale, complex, mixed-use development and redevelopment projects. In addition to his role at FCM, he holds leadership positions at its affiliate companies: Freehold Communities, 360 Communities, Programmatic Land Capital and Development Advisory Services.
Prior to joining FCM, Mr. Teteak was a senior executive at CalAtlantic Homes, where he led the national land investment group, managing strategic land investments across 30 U.S. markets.
Earlier in his career, he held executive roles at SunCal Companies, a national real estate development firm focused on large-scale, master-planned communities. There, he oversaw acquisitions and dispositions and served on both the executive and investment committees.
Previously, he served as president of O’Donnell Atkins, then the largest land brokerage firm on the West Coast.
Before entering the real estate industry, Mr. Teteak was a commissioned officer and AH-1 Cobra attack helicopter pilot in the United States Marine Corps. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Boston College.
Andrew T. Smith Executive Vice President, East Operations
Mr. Smith is responsible for overseeing all East Coast development, operations, and construction activities for Freehold Capital Management, including its affiliate companies: Freehold Communities, 360 Communities, Programmatic Land Capital and Development Advisory Services. With over two decades of experience as a real estate development executive, Mr. Smith has held various positions with national homebuilders and has an extensive background in both the homebuilder and contractor side of the industry. Over the course of his career, Mr. Smith has managed every aspect of acquisition, entitlement, master-planning, engineering, construction, development, and dispositions, delivering more than 32,000 residential lots across multiple master-planned communities nationwide (including multifamily, build-to-rent and for-sale homes).
Prior to his work at FCM, Mr. Smith served as an executive responsible for developing infrastructure projects for commercial, industrial and residential clients for a large civil site-work company. He also served as Vice President of Land Development and Acquisitions in the coastal Carolinas for both Pulte and Centex Homes. There he led the development of a 10,000-unit, active-adult community in Hilton Head, South Carolina. As part of the leadership team for Sun City Hilton Head, Mr. Smith sat on the Board of Directors of all property management associations and was an integral part of the national land development budget-review team.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology. He resides in St. Augustine, Florida with his wife and their two children.
Suzanne M. Fleming Senior Vice President, Marketing & Property Management
Suzanne Fleming directs Freehold Capital Management’s strategic marketing, which includes overseeing market research, community branding and placemaking. Ms. Fleming additionally manages the marketing for FCM’s affiliate companies: Freehold Communities, 360 Communities, Programmatic Land Capital and Development Advisory Services.
In these roles, Ms. Fleming develops the firm’s comprehensive Vital Communities approach which distinguishes each community with healthy living, engagement, connectivity, stewardship, and distinctive design. In this way, Ms. Fleming has helped shape Freehold’s master-planned communities – including over 32,000 residential units – from inception, through planning and construction, all the way to bringing them to market. Many of these communities have received national awards and recognition. Ms. Fleming applies the same strategies to Freehold’s Build-to-Rent affiliate, 360 Communities.
Prior to her role with FCM, Ms. Fleming served as Senior Vice President at Lyon Communities, where she managed that company’s marketing, sales, training and development of new mixed-use developments. Before joining Lyon, Ms. Fleming led the Marketing and Research department at Irvine Company as Senior Director. During her tenure at Irvine Company Ms. Fleming was responsible for the marketing and delivery of multiple award-winning master-planned communities, including more than 10,000 homes.
Ms. Fleming is an active member of Urban Land Institute and was honored as the “National Marketing Professional of the Year” by the National Association of Home Builders.
Quintin Grandstaff Senior Vice President, Investments & Asset Management
Quintin Grandstaff is responsible for underwriting new investments, managing capital markets activities, and overseeing asset management at Freehold Capital Management and its affiliate companies: Freehold Communities, 360 Communities, Programmatic Land Capital and Development Advisory Services.
Since joining Freehold in 2013, Quintin has focused on evaluating and structuring strategic investment opportunities, leveraging a disciplined, data-driven approach to deliver long-term value. He plays a key role in shaping the firm’s capital allocation strategy and works closely with cross-functional teams to optimize asset performance and manage risk.
Prior to Freehold, Mr. Grandstaff was part of the finance team at a Cambridge, Massachusetts–based tech startup, where he supported multiple rounds of venture capital fundraising.
A graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Quintin lives in New Hampshire with his wife and two children.
Chris Middleton Senior Vice President, Operations
As Senior Vice President of Operations for Freehold Capital Management, Mr. Middleton oversees the day-to-day operations for 360 Communities, an affiliate of Freehold Capital Management. 360 Communities is dedicated to building and managing high-quality new homes for lease in some of the nation’s most desirable markets. His role at 360 Communities includes acquisition of new sites, development of production, and establishing leasing operations with third-party management companies.
For more than 20 years Mr. Middleton has managed the development and construction of complex residential, commercial, retail, and industrial properties. His past executive positions relate directly to 360 Communities. They include Land Development Manager and Regional Vice President – Acquisitions & Development – for American Homes 4 Rent. Mr. Middleton was also Partner/Manager – Acquisitions, Land Development and Construction – for The Alterra Group. And he served as Land Development Manager at KB Home in Jacksonville, Florida.
Mr. Middleton earned a Bachelor of Science (with Honors) from the University of Florida. And he is licensed as a Certified General Contractor and Real Estate Sales Associate from the State of Florida.
Katherine Rowe Vice President, Internal Counsel
Katherine Rowe provides legal counsel supporting Freehold Capital Management’s corporate and real estate development activities. Her practice touches on all aspects of development, from acquisition to disposition and internal operations for its affiliate companies: Freehold Communities, 360 Communities, Programmatic Land Capital and Development Advisory Services.
Ms. Rowe works closely with internal business units to draft and negotiate contracts with project vendors ranging from engineers and contractors to marketing and advertising consultants. She also works with internal business units as well as investors and local counsel on public and private finance transactions, branding, litigation, conveyancing and other complex real estate and commercial transactions to advance the unique goals and visions for each project.
Prior to joining Freehold Capital Management, she was a contract analyst at a fortune 500 retail pharmacy and healthcare company, where she drafted and negotiated a wide array of vendor agreements related to the company’s facility build-out and remodel initiatives.
Ms. Rowe received her Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School and her Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Ethics History and Public Policy, and International Relations with a minor in Russian studies from Carnegie Mellon University. She is admitted to the Bar in Massachusetts and is an active member of the ABA Forum on Construction Law in which she is a member of the In-House Counsel Division Steering Committee and has served as a conference panelist. She also is a contributing author of the book Representing the Project Owner: A Construction Lawyer’s Guide, recently published by the American Bar Association.
Sam M. Malone Vice President, Asset Management
Since joining Freehold Capital Management in 2018, Sam M. Malone has been an indispensable contributor to the company’s growth and success. With a strategic focus on portfolio expansion and operational excellence, Ms. Malone has played a pivotal role in refining the firm’s asset management and reporting functions.
Her leadership has been instrumental in cultivating and strengthening relationships with equity partners, fostering long-term collaborations that align with Freehold’s investment vision. She oversees the full spectrum of asset management operations, working cross-functionally with development, legal, contracts, acquisitions, and disposition teams. Her collaborative, integrative approach has significantly enhanced both team efficiency and day-to-day operations.
Ms. Malone holds a B.S. in Applied Statistics and Actuarial Science, with a minor in Economics.
Colton Medeiros Vice President, Controller
Mr. Medeiros leads the accounting team and oversees comprehensive financial operations across Freehold Capital Management’s nationwide portfolio of development and operating projects. He is responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, ranging from internal corporate reports to external investor packages, while maintaining a strong focus on compliance, accuracy and operational efficiency. With deep expertise in financial reporting, cash management, audit coordination, and tax compliance, Colton delivers accurate, timely, and actionable financial insights.
Prior to joining Freehold, Mr. Medeiros served on the accounting team at STAG Industrial, Inc., where he oversaw a nationwide portfolio of industrial assets.
Mr. Medeiros graduated with an Accounting degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Isenberg School of Management.
Mr. Medeiros resides North of Boston with his wife and two children.
Andrea Salafia Vice President, Marketing - East
Andrea Salafia is responsible for marketing visioning, strategy development, and execution for Freehold Capital Management’s eastern portfolio of master-planned communities. This includes leading brand positioning, community storytelling, and the origination and execution of marketing programs that support new community visioning, launches, and sustained market presence.
Andrea is a member of the Urban Land Institute’s national Community Development Product Council, an associate member of the University of Texas Real Estate Council, and a member of the Urban Land Institute Women’s Leadership Initiative Coastal Carolinas committee.
Andrea is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin.
Matt D. Matthews Regional President, Texas & Colorado
At Freehold Capital Management, Mr. Matthews directs all acquisition, construction, development and disposition activity in Texas and Colorado, for both Freehold Communities, 360 Communities and Programmatic Land Capital.
With more than 30 years of experience as a real estate executive, Mr. Matthews has developed and managed every aspect of entitlement, master-planning, development, construction, public finance, and dispositions, including the delivery of 10,000 residential lots and multiple master-planned communities in Austin, Houston, San Antonio and El Paso.
Prior to his role at Freehold Communities, Mr. Matthews co-founded Charter Development Partners, a full-service real estate company where he also served as Principal. The firm provided development consulting and brokerage services to homebuilders, investment groups and lending institutions. He has worked with several high-profile public and private homebuilders including DR Horton, Lennar, KB Home, Taylor Morrison, Toll Brothers, and Pulte/Centex. Over the course of his career, Mr. Matthews has directed the development of 28 residential communities, including the Augusta Pines Golf Community, a 1,100-acre master-planned community south of The Woodlands, Texas.
Mr. Matthews is a graduate of the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin and is a licensed Texas Real Estate Broker.
Bradley J. Shuckhart Regional President, California & Arizona
At Freehold Capital Management, Mr. Shuckhart directs all acquisition, construction, development and disposition activity in California and Arizona, for both Freehold Communities, 360 Communities, Programmatic Land Capital and Development Advisory Services.
Prior to joining Freehold, Mr. Shuckhart served as Vice President of Land Acquisitions at SunCal Companies, a privately held real-estate developer of residential and commercial properties in the US.
Over the course his career, Mr. Shuckhart has led the acquisition and development of more than a dozen master-planned communities in California, Nevada and Texas, with a total sellout value in excess of $2 billion. Mr. Shuckhart has extensive experience with every aspect of land development, including acquisitions, entitlements and dispositions.
Mr. Shuckhart is a graduate of Pomona College and earned his MBA from USC’s Marshall School of Business with an emphasis on real estate finance.
Gerrit Albert Regional President, Carolinas & Georgia
As Regional President for the Carolinas and Georgia, Gerrit Albert leads the operations on three of the South’s premier master-planned communities. Mr. Albert has over 20 years of experience in master-planned communities encompassing all aspects of project development, sales and marketing, club and golf management, and operational leadership.
His experience in leading master-planned communities includes being General Manager of Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina, where he oversaw everything from hotel management and resort amenities to golf course management and real estate sales.
Mr. Albert has experience with many other leading firms, including Reed Development (President Hampton Lake), Toll Brothers (President of Hampton Hall), and The Branigar Organization. He has served as Vice Chair of the Urban Land Institute Recreational Development Blue Council and holds real estate licenses in Georgia and South Carolina.
A native of Savannah, Gerrit earned an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University where he was Beta Gamma Sigma (top 10% of class), and a B.A. from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.
Johnny Lynch Regional President, Florida & Georgia
Johnny Lynch serves as Regional President for Florida and Georgia, where he leads regional operations including land acquisitions, development, and strategic growth initiatives across both states.
Johnny brings nearly 30 years of experience in residential real estate, including financing, land acquisition, planning, land development, engineering, HOA/CDD management, dispositions, and business development. Throughout his career, he has held senior leadership positions with D.R. Horton, Lennar Homes, Toll Brothers, GreenPointe Communities, and Florida Power & Light. He began his career as a civil engineer with Kimley-Horn and Associates, giving him a strong technical foundation that has served him well throughout his career.
His market expertise spans many of Florida’s most active residential corridors, including South Florida, the Treasure Coast, Southwest Florida, Central Florida, and West Florida. Widely respected throughout the real estate community, Johnny has cultivated strong, lasting relationships with builders, developers, landowners, engineers, consultants, and government officials across the state.
Johnny holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida, where he was also a member of the football team, and an MBA from Florida Atlantic University. He resides in St. Augustine area with his wife and family.
Michael Walline Vice President, Real Estate Operations
Mr. Walline is responsible for the strategic and day-to-day management of various development projects across the United States, for Freehold Capital Management and its affiliate companies: Freehold Communities, 360 Communities, Programmatic Land Capital and Development Advisory Services.
Mr. Walline has more than three decades of industry experience in land acquisition, land development and project management. Prior to joining Freehold, he served as President of Roanoke Development, LLC in Lake Bluff, Illinois creating and overseeing business plans, assisting with financial feasibility analysis, cash-flow management, cost control, and the acquisition of new properties for the company.
Before his time at Roanoke Development, he was the Corporate Vice President, Director of Land Development for 18 years with SunCal Companies, a Southern California company he joined in 1998. As a member of that company’s senior management team, he was responsible for strategic management of multiple developments. He also served as President of the Santa Clarita/Ventura Division for SunCal.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Walline’s own contracting and development company specialized in both residential and complex commercial construction projects. He also served for six years as Vice President of Development for the Los Angeles/Ventura Division of Warmington Homes. He holds an A.S. in Construction Management from Los Angeles Pierce College where he also studied Architecture and Engineering.
Mr. Walline is married to Lisa, and they reside in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and have 3 adult children and two grandchildren.
Paul Nieto Vice President, Real Estate Operations
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Paul Nieto recently joined Freehold Capital Management working with its California developments.
Prior to joining Freehold, Mr. Nieto was Principal, Town Square Advisors, supervising real estate development and consulting. Nieto has also held top positions in organizations in both Northern and Southern California, including Signature Development Group, Avant Housing, TMG Partners, Project Design Consultants, Eastlake Development Company and Union Bank.
He is a graduate of the USC Marshall School of Business. His many professional affiliations include Urban Land Institute, California Building Industry Association, and Building Industry Association of the Bay Area.
Daniel E. McCormick, PLA Vice President, Real Estate Operations
Dan McCormick is responsible for the day-to-day operations of multiple master planned communities within Florida. Since joining FCM in 2016, Mr. McCormick has been successful in directing entitlements, permitting, construction management, project closeout, and community turnover.
Previously, Mr. McCormick worked for a multi-disciplinary land planning and design firm providing entitlement, land planning, and landscape architectural services to public and private organizations. This included land-use and zoning approvals, as well as large scale development solutions and the production and permitting of construction documents.
Mr. McCormick earned his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Florida and is a Registered Landscape Architect. He resides in Northeast Florida with his wife and son.
Larry D. Caruthers Vice President, Real Estate Operations
Larry Caruthers is responsible for daily operations for residential developments in the Carolinas and Georgia. This includes overseeing consultants, contractors, public and private utilities providers, and budgets, as well as the Architectural Review Committees and Homeowners Associations. Mr. Caruthers manages district reporting and compliance with the municipal improvement districts in these communities. He is also responsible for due diligence and entitlement for master planned projects.
Mr. Caruthers comes to these roles from his project-management work with Newland Real Estate Group, LLC, Comstock Holding Companies, Inc. and Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd.
Mr. Caruthers studied Civil Engineering at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
